Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190

Individuals who have been nominated by a territory government or Australian state can apply for the Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 and work and live in Australia permanently. Applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the skill select which contains detailed information on education, qualification, skills, and nominated occupation if they wish to apply for the visa.

Who should apply for this visa:

Applicants applying for the Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant must be below the age of 45 years,
  • Must have a related occupation,
  • The applicant must score at least 60 marks (passing marks) in the Skilled Migration Points Test,
  • Must possess appropriate skills for the occupation.
  • have the appropriate skills evaluation for the occupation

What The Visa Holder is Permitted to Do in Australia?

The holders of this visa, have the permission to stay in Australia as permanent residents but the visa can only be obtained if the applicant fulfills the criteria. The visa holder is also offered a travel facility that allows them to travel to and from Australia for 5 years after application.

Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) holders can avail healthcare services and enroll in Medicare (a health insurance plan). Once they have qualified, they can sponsor eligible family members to Australia for permanent residence.

Visa applicants must meet the following criteria when applying for the Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190):

  • The state or territory government must have nominated and invited the applicant if they wish to apply for the skilled visa in Australia,
  • Must be fluent in English,
  • The applicant must repay or arrange to repay any debts owed to the Australian government,
  • The candidate must meet health and character requirements.

Please note that in the case of visa cancellation, you are no longer eligible to apply for Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190).

The processing time for a Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) is about 6 to 7 months in the majority of the cases.

The applicant is permitted to include their partner in the visa application. If the candidate wishes to include a family member above 18 years of age, the relative must be competent in English otherwise the candidate must pay an additional fee.  

An expression of Interest (EOI) informs why applicants require the visa to rank them against other seeking applicants. The EOI can be submitted from anywhere and once it has been submitted, EOIs are valid for two years.
